Wing buckles have tabs at the jaws. These tabs, or wings, are first inserted into the hole in the cofferdam and then the cofferdam with the clamp applied to the tooth. The winged buckles are designed to provide additional rubber dam retraction. The operator can connect the clamp and frame with the cofferdam and place everything on the tooth at the same time.
