Nova Compo C is a light-cured, radiopaque, nanohybrid composite for anterior and posterior fillings.
Composition
The monomer matrix consists of various dimethacrylates (18-22% by weight) and ULS® (Ultra Low Shrinkage) monomer. Fillers include barium glass, ytterbium and prepolymer (83-78% by weight), additives, catalysts, stabilizers and pigments.
Monomer Technology
Compo C is designed with low molecular weight shrinkage resins. The higher molecular weight of the resin results in less shrinkage, reduced aging and a slightly softer, more flexible resin matrix. Additionally, these resins are characterized by greater hydrophobicity and lower water absorption. Nova Compo C contains a very small amount of diluting monomers such as TEGDMA. The diluting monomers have a low molecular weight and high cross-linking ability, resulting in a high elastic modulus and stiffness of the composite. Ideally, composite restorations should not have a high modulus of elasticity. High modulus composites are stiff, brittle materials and are not effective at buffering high stresses. The modulus of elasticity is optimized for Nova Compo C. Low molecular weight monomers increase the volumetric shrinkage and shrinkage stress of the composite.
Filler technology
Nova Compo C contains fillers of various types, sizes and concentrations to determine optimal transparency, strength and radio-opacity.
Prepolymerized, high-density, radiopaque filler
Ba type glass, 0.7 micron thick
Ba glass with a thickness of 0.4 microns
Nanofillers
Prepolymerized fillers ensure low shrinkage, low stress, non-sticky, easy handling and forming of the preparation. High-stress prepolymerized fillers provide better wear resistance than traditional, lower-stress prepolymerized fillers in commercially available composites. In the Compo C nanohybrid composite; the spaces between the prepolymerized filler particles are occupied by nanofillers and ba-glasses of various particle sizes. Nanofillers and ba glasses with a thickness of 0.4 microns ensure high gloss, high wear, surface hardness and smoothness of the material.
Compo C provides sufficient working time without premature setting of the material under the operating light. The refractive index of the filler and matrix has been optimized for the chameleon effect. Fillers with different optical properties were selected, which transmit and scatter light similar to the natural structure of the tooth (better chameleon effect).
